Swimmers of the Year 2009-2010

Mark McKenna

Mark won this on the back of a very successful year. He started off by winning the gold medal in the 1500m at BUSA Short Course. Then at Long Course, Mark almost completed a  1500m double but had to settle for second place. At BUCS Teams Mark beat a long standing club record. Mark's successful year was almost made complete when he was selected on the long list to represent England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Outside the water Mark has coached the competitive squad most Wednesdays and the recreational squad every Thursday. Also, since Easter he has filled in due to a lack of a full time coach on a Monday.
'Tickle' as he is affectionately known has proved a valuable asset in the water and has also been very helpful to the club outside of the water.

Graham Bell

Graham has been a benefit of the club as a whole throughout his time at Manchester. His efforts in his first few years at university have helped to make the club what it is today. Serving as both Club Secretary and President, Graham helped to steer the club when it split from Water Polo to  form two separate clubs. Even though Graham has now passed on his roles to new committee members he still is very enthusiastic for training.
